Online bingo is increasing in popularity, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome lots of new players to our online casino. However, in order to play bingo responsibly and get the most out of it, there are a few simple rules to follow.
Even though in online bingo you don’t play face to face with the other players, it’s still important to be respectful, follow bingo etiquette and protect your own privacy online.
Read on for a list of things NOT to do when playing online bingo, including overspending, sharing private information and more.
Overspending
Online bingo is a form of gambling, and should always be enjoyed responsibly. This means setting a budget before you play, and making sure you stick to it. Setting a time limit on how long you’ll play for can also help you to manage how much you’re spending.
Only spend what you can afford, and never gamble with money that should go towards rent, bills or other expenses.
Remember that online bingo is a game of chance. Just because you haven’t won for a while doesn’t mean you are ‘due a win’, for example. Think of bingo as a fun, sociable game rather than a way to make money, and take regular breaks from it to keep yourself in check.

Lack of Knowledge in Bingo Lingo
‘Bingo lingo’ refers to the language and phrases used in online bingo games. Some bingo lingo is taken from traditional bingo halls, where bingo callers use simple phrases to make it clear which number they are calling.
The phrases are sometimes related to the physical shape of the numbers, such as ‘two fat ladies = 88’, while others are made up of simple rhymes, e.g., ‘Queen Bee = 73’.
When playing online bingo you’re also likely to come across some abbreviations in the chat rooms, which are similar to text language.
You might be familiar with ‘G2G’ (‘got to go’) and ‘L8R’ (‘later’), but in online bingo you may come across some bingo-specific abbreviations like ‘1TG’ (‘1 number to go’) and FH (‘Full House’).
Although it’s not essential to be fluent in bingo lingo, it will help you make the most out of the experience and make it easier to communicate with your fellow players.

Ignoring In-House Rules
Online bingo is supposed to be fun for everyone, and each casino will have its own in-house rules to keep it that way.
Although the rules may vary according to the casino, it’s likely that they will include things like respecting the other players and the chat moderator (often abbreviated to ‘CM’ in the chat room), being polite at all times and gambling responsibly, without the influence of alcohol or drugs.
It’s also important to familiarise yourself with the rules for each specific bingo game, since they can be different. For example, in a standard 90 ball bingo game there are usually prizes for One Line, Two Lines and Full House, whereas a jackpot game is likely to have an additional jackpot prize for getting a Full House within a certain number of bingo calls.
Rudeness
This one should go without saying: be polite to your fellow players, and to the chat host. Just because you can’t see the other players doesn’t mean they’re not real people, and you should always treat each other with respect.
Don’t use swear words or offensive language in the chat rooms, and avoid using all capital letters since it might LOOK LIKE YOU ARE SHOUTING (see what we did there?!).
Don’t be a sore loser if you don’t win, and don’t get drawn into any arguments with other players.
Sharing Private Information
Although the majority of online bingo players are lovely people, it’s possible that some people might have bad intentions. Never share personal information like your full name, address, phone number or bank details with other players, even if the person asking for them seems genuine.
Don’t be tricked into sharing your winnings with another player, or lending money to anyone who says they will repay you. Remember that you don’t actually know these people, and they might not be who they say they are.
If another player is hassling you or you are suspicious about their behaviour, inform the chat host or moderator immediately.
