It’s no secret that cooking shows have us hooked. From competition shows like Masterchef and the Great British Bake Off to reality productions like Chef’s Table, watching others cook provides inspiration and entertainment.
Cooking shows can bring people together and provide easy background viewing when playing online games like bingo, so it’s no wonder they are so popular worldwide.
Some chefs have gained more popularity than others, thanks to their charisma and on-screen presence, and our experts at Slingo analysed 100 celebrity chefs from around the world. We looked at each chef’s social media popularity, restaurants, and Michelin stars to reveal the most successful celebrity chefs.

Methodology
We wanted to reveal the most successful celebrity chefs in the world, and how this has changed since our last study.
We compiled a list of 100 celebrity chefs. We analysed their Instagram followers, Instagram engagement rate, potential Instagram collaboration earnings, number of owned restaurants, number of countries each chef is active in, and number of Michelin stars. We gave each chef a normalised score out of ten for each factor before calculating an average score for each chef to give a ‘Celebrity chef score out of ten’.
We sourced each chef’s Instagram followers from Instagram on 21st September 2023.
We sourced each chef’s Instagram engagement rate and potential maximum earnings for a collaborated Instagram post from InBeat. We converted all currencies to GBP using Google Finance on 22nd September 2023.
We sourced the number of restaurants owned by each chef and the number of countries they are active in using each chef’s website and Wikipedia. We did not include cruise ship restaurants, culinary institutes, hotels or private dining.
We sourced the number of Michelin stars received over each chef’s career using articles and the Michelin Guide.
We also sourced the number of TikTok followers for each chef with an active TikTok account and at least five videos from TikTok on 22nd September 2023. We sourced the maximum estimated earnings for a sponsored post and engagement rate from TikCalculator and Ubiwiz.
