The data in this study is accurate as of January 2025.

Using IMDb, a list of film directors was created. This list was filtered down to find the directors who have won an Academy Award for Best Director from the 2000s onwards.

The worldwide and average box office earnings for each director were taken from The Numbers on 15/01/25.

Each director’s Academy Award wins and nominations were taken from IMDb.

Each director’s five top-rated films were taken from IMDb before collecting each film’s YouTube trailer views and likes.

Each film trailer’s YouTube dislikes were taken using the Return YouTube Dislike browser extension.

Each director’s average career score out of 100 was taken from Meta Critic on 15/01/25.

To find each director’s earnings per minute, IMDb filters were used to find the duration of each directed film before taking the worldwide box office earnings from The Numbers to estimate the average earnings per minute. NB, the worldwide box office earnings are a sum of many sources across multiple markets and types of viewership.
